Detox Flow (Sauca Yoga)
Check out our new Detox Flow class!! Sauca (pronounced sow-cha) yoga at the Sanctuary has been specifically designed using yogic cleansing practices to rid the body, mind, and spirit of accumulated toxins so that we are creating the groundwork to achieve our highest potential.
The yogic cleansing practices we will be teaching are Dhyana (meditation or contemplation) Chakra balancing, Mudra (gesture seal), Bandha (energetic locks), Mantra (conscious intention), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Shatkarmas (yogic cleansing practices).
Our strongest focus will be on using asana to cleanse the system and each class will have a specific focus on one of the other practices mentioned. The room will be gently heated to help facilitate the detoxification process.
Why we detoxify:
- Operate at our optimal level and to connect with our true nature. Shatkarmas (cleansing practices) prepare for the more advanced practices of yoga.
- Sharpens the mind allowing us to think more clearly.
- Sharpens the senses, allowing for greater understanding through sight, smell, taste, touch etc.
- Enhance level of oxygen to assist in the removal of cellular waste and toxic matter.
- When the body is continually under stress body chemistry becomes more acidic making it more difficult to take in oxygen and nutrients.
Vinyasa (Level II)
*****Strengthen*****Enliven*****Invigorate*****
Power Vinyasa is a dynamic form of hatha yoga that focuses on the integration of breath and movement, awareness and alignment, strength and flexibility. Power Vinyasa is practiced in a heated room (a comfortable 85-95 degrees) to encourage an energetic flow through creative sequencing. Power Vinyasa classes are designed to enliven the body and the spirit!
Vinyasa (Level I & II)
*****Release*****Rejuvenate*****Restore*****
Sanctuary Yoga is our most traditional hatha yoga class which focuses on building flexibility, strength, and awareness not only of the body, but of the mind, and spirit. Sanctuary Yoga allows students to greatly deepen their practice by placing careful attention on education of alignment, meditation techniques, and yogic philosophy. Sanctuary Yoga is a perfect class on its own and is a strong foundation for all of our other yoga classes.
Core Yoga
Sustenance*****Poise*****Inner Strength*****
We can all benefit greatly from bringing more core work into our practices. By utilizing traditional asanas (poses), inner strength and awareness can be enhanced while we practice yoga. With the use of creative sequencing, we will tap into our own energy to learn how to move from our physical core. Pranayama (breath practice) and Bandhas (internal core locks) will be integrated into the practice to support the understanding of many aspects of specific core-work. This class is for all levels and is a great compliment to any of our other yoga styles. Try to eat at least one hour prior to class rather than right before.
Hot Yoga
*****Purify*****Detoxify*****Fortify*****
Hot Yoga is a fun, challenging and engaging yoga series that provides a total body workout. This class consists of a set series of poses that focuses on balance and spinal strength in a studio heated to around 110-120 degrees. Hot Yoga balances the body and its major systems (respiratory, circulatory, muscular, digestive, excretory, nervous, and endocrine), rejuvenating and restoring overall health. The heat creates a safe environment for stretching the body and gently promotes the detoxifying process.
Students of all levels are welcome. This posture series is as accessible for the first-time yoga student as it is challenging for those students that have a regular yoga practice. Be prepared to sweat! Prepare Schedule
Restorative Yoga
*****Relax*****Restore*****Renew*****
The class will begin with Chandra Namaskar (moon salutations) and then focus on longer holds, stress reduction, and supportive poses. This class is a wonderful addition to our holistic yoga program. Relax, Restore, and Renew.

Preparing for classes
- Pre-registration is NOT required. No need to call inadvance.
- New students and beginners are welcome to ANY and ALL classes.
- Arrive 15 minutes early to register and get changed. Be on time please! Late arrivals not admitted.
- Bring a bath-size towel and a bottle of water.
- A mat will be provided for your first few classes only.
- Come with an empty stomach and an open mind.
- We do have showers. If you plan on showering, bring a second towel.
Please be on time
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Please allow enough time to get lost, get stuck in traffic, get changed and settle in. Unfortunately, we do not allow late arrivals to any classes. A group energy and rapport is created in the room very quickly and late arrivals really do disrupt the class.
For new students, this is important because there are quite a few things that need to be explained BEFORE class begins. They cannot be explained during class as it disrupts the flow of the class for everyone else.
Also if you are a new student, it is incredibly important to meet the teacher, fill out a new student information form and discuss any injuries, illnesses or issues past or present that you are bringing to the class so that the teacher can support you in taking the best and most nourishing yoga class possible. It is important for your physical safety.
We look at things in terms of “how you do anything is how you do everything” so we consider the discipline of being on time an important part of your yoga practice. Be on time for yourself –to give yourself enough time to chill out in the yoga room for 5 minutes before class. It really does make for a much more focused, relaxed and restorative class.
